Church Prayer Monday Oct 24th

Week of Prayer and Fasting Oct 24th-28th

Over the weekend I was listening to an audio book about WWII vets telling their experiences from the time they were recruited to their first assignments in the Pacific. As I began to listen to their stories there was something each one of them had in common. . . A mentor.
Listening to their accounts I started to reminisce about those men and women that have been mentors to me. Both in my professional careers (USMC & Brookfield Residential) and my walk with God. I could go on about my professional career and those that have influenced me, but seeing this is a church newsletter let me

talk a little about those that have influenced my walk with God. The Miraflor family, my new con- vert teachers Bro. Wayne Miraflor and Bro. Bill Ellis, the Barder family, the Westbrook's, and many more, made an impact in my family and life. Each was a pillar to my family and in the congregation through example, teaching, and fellowship they challenged me to draw closer to the Lord and his purpose for my life.

Today we too have a responsibility to each other and those around us to set the example and if possible be the mentor that an individual may need. Too often we don't see ourselves in this role, but part of the plan of God is for us to grow in the knowledge of him, look outside of ourselves, and fulfill the purpose that God has for us.

One of my favorite mentor examples are a married couple by the name of Aquila and Priscilla:

Acts 18:24-26 KJV
[24] And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. [25] This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. [26] And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

You see this couple heard this man Apollos speaking boldly in the synagogue the things of the Lord and they were ready to explain the gospel to him more perfectly.

They made themselves available to further the gospel and we see that their work was not in vain. In the Church of Corinth, Apollos went on to preach the gospel and minister to the church, win many to the Lord, and be a help to the Apostle Paul's ministry as well.

So I would like to encourage each of us today to make ourselves available and ready with an answer to those that the Lord places in our lives. To be ready to be a friend, teacher, and mentor when the Lord opens that door of opportunity.

Lord bless. . .
Bro. Rick Chavira

Pacific Coast Camp & Junior Camp
Pacific Coast Camp (PCC) is an Apostolic summer youth camp for the whole family. It is held each June on the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California.

PCC is the vision of a group of concerned Apostolic pastors to promote spiritual growth and maturity for the entire family. Camp activities are designed to address the needs of young people, ages 7-25 that have never been married and have no children.

Please join us this year, June 17-22, 2018, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds for another great Camp. The Camp evening evangelists will be Jonathon Alvear, from Conyers, GA. The day evangelists will be Ron Garrett, Glendale, AZ. We are looking forward to PCC 2019!

PACIFIC COAST CAMP operates as a youth and family camp meeting combination.
The youth camp is open to young people between the ages of 7 – 25 years, single, never married, no children. It will operate as customary: campers will be placed in groups according to their ages. Each youth attending the camp will lodge in the facilities provided. Other arrangements may be made if deemed necessary by the camper’s pastor. These arrangements should be communicated by the pastor to the camp principal, and the camp principal will make the final determination.

For youth campers, meals are included in registration fee.

Private portable showers will be provided for everyone lodging on campus.

The pastor, assistant pastor or a minister approved by the pastor from the local church needs to be present at camp for any young people from that church to be in attendance.

Those outside the youth camp age (parents, small children and others) may stay on-site in tents or RVs, or in nearby hotels.

Non-campers may purchase meals for $60.00 (fifteen meals).

Tents: $20.00 per night (only one tent per space)
RV’s:
$40.00 per night for full hook-up (electric/sewer/water)
