In this modern commercialized world February 14th is referred to as Valentine’s Day. That is the day that we are supposed to tell our special someone we love them, send them a special card, send them a box of chocolates, or a send them a bouquet of flowers. Then on February 15th the world goes back to focusing on themselves and everything else they feel is important in their life.
What if Jesus would have had this mindset? What would the world be like if He had said all you need to do is focus on what we love most just one day a year. That idea is just silly and just not how love works. That may be how the world looks at love but that isn’t how God looks at and shows us His love towards us. Love is a 24/7/365 relationship.
Rom 5:8 says “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” John 15:13 says “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” 1 John 4:10 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins”.
Jesus died for us that we might live. His love didn’t end on the cross. He died and rose again that we might live not just here on earth but in our new home with Him. His love is never ending. Rom 8:35 says, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?”
With a love like that why shouldn’t the world love God. God’s word tells us to love Him. Matt 22:37 says “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” And John 14:15 says “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Oh, if the world could only do just that they would be a part of the greatest love story of all time. A love that will never end. For me, I will take the kind of love God gives versus the one that comes only one day a year. It is my prayer that you will fall in love with Jesus as well so you can experience that one true love. He is waiting to pour out His Love on you!
