As our nation celebrates Independence Day July 4th. It remains a fact our nation was born in a rebellion against unjust tyranny from King George and England. America still fights today to remain the land of the free and home of the brave. At times it may seem as though we have as a nation made a mockery of that hard fought freedom and what it entails. Our forefather's understood divine providence and all the blessings that follows. God has truly blessed us and kept us during World Wars and beyond. Enlisting in the military many years ago, we were encouraged to fight for God and Country. Christians are to avoid conflict and live peaceably among all men. The fight we need to affix ourselves to is in 1 Tim 6:12. Paul admonishes us to "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou are also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses". He tells us to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. By God's Mercy and Grace, let us endeavor to continue the fight. The good news is that if as in Rom 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Keep fighting not with the instruments of flesh and blood but by His Spirit in us. Who will bring us home to eternal life and eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? The freedom we have experienced in Christ is simply this, in John 8:32 our Lord said "And Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." Now that is a reason to celebrate real freedom in the world we live in. Fight On in JESUS Name!
