Waters of Refreshing

If we are filled with the Holy Ghost, then there was a time when we had to do some digging, repentance, and cleaning out our vessel until we were able to draw water out of the wells of Salvation. The result was well worth the digging, don’t you agree? The repenting part of my conversion was beautiful. I was living in a Christian home and being raised by a Godly mother. I was only 17 and probably wasn’t THAT bad, but still I had to be saved. The Lord caused me to repent for two days and nights. How refreshing it was to pour out my heart and soul to the Lord and feel the cleansing flow of the Holy Ghost fill my soul.

It is of utmost importance to keep our well flowing freely. We must be aware that there are many things that will stem that beautiful flow of our well. Those troubles come to us on a daily basis: the cares of life, children, jobs, bills, fears, doubts, and many more. All of these can become rocks and dirt that will stem that refreshing flow of life sustaining water that flows through our soul.

God gave us some great tools to help us. We must keep them sharp and in good working condition. Dull tools can make a task difficult. Two of the best tools God gave us are prayer and His Word. I don’t know about you, but it seems like when I go to pray, every thought imaginable comes to mind. So many things flood my thoughts, and a lot of times its things that are meaningless. I have to gird up the loins of my mind, shovel out all distractions, and get my mind on Jesus. Every day that we go without prayer we make room for dirt to clog our well. We must make the time to pray until we have touched heaven and know that we have been in the presence of God. Sometimes prayer alone doesn’t get the flow going again. When that happens, we have to do what Jesus told His disciples to do in Matthew 17:21 “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

If we need to remove rocks, we can use the Sword of the Word of God to cut asunder what is holding us back. In His Word we find encouragement, knowledge, faith, promises that can’t be broken, wisdom, a refuge from the storms, strength when we’re weak, an anchor in stormy seas, and comfort, just to name a few. All we need to live a victorious life in Him is in His Word. We must read it daily!!!

There are many other tools we have to help us live a victorious life. There are songs of worship and praise, witnessing, testimonies, fellowship, edifying and encouraging one another and more. If we use these tools faithfully, we will be renewed day by day and it will build our faith. The faith to move the mountains in our life and keep the waters of refreshing flowing freely that we may live an overcoming life and that others may see Christ in us, the hope of glory.

Psalms 18:2-3: The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
