Bro. Bohannon’s Thoughts:

This past year is like no other. From COVID 19 creating lock-downs, lost employment, online schools to people losing their minds and domestic violence. To BLM, Antifa, extremist, politics and censorship of free speech which in turn has led to rioting, lootings, burning of buildings and unfortunately killings. It’s obvious, this is not the America nor the way of life we’re used to. Questions no doubt swirl through our minds of… “What’s next?”, “Why the turmoil and confusion?”, “What will tomorrow bring?”, “Will life get back to normal?”. Along with uncertainty, fear of the unknown and the list goes on.

The month of February is associated with Valentine’s Day. A day when “love” is in the air. But what is love? To the world, the word love is generally associated with feelings or affection. But what does the Bible say about love?

1 John 4:18 - “…perfect love casteth out fear.”

1 John 4:19 – “We love Him, because He first loved us.”

1 Corinthians 13:1 - 8 - Love is patient, kind, protects, rejoices with truth, brings trust, hope, it perseveres, it never fails. True love does not envy or boast, is not proud or rude or self-seeking. It’s not easily angered, nor keeps record of wrongs.

1 John 2:15 – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

What type of love do you have towards the Master? Is it just a feeling? During these crazy and uncertain times, make this the year to develop a deeper love for Jesus. This type of love goes far beyond a feeling, lip service, or just showing up for church. It’s getting to know Him through His Word. A heart that gives unselfishly, an attitude to serve willingly, to live obediently, honor Him faithfully, to pray fervently. The song says it best, “…falling in LOVE with JESUS. It’s the BEST THING I’VE EVER DONE.”

Lord Bless,

Bro Bohannon
