Wait on the Lord

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”

Having patience and learning to wait on the Lord are crucial elements in our walk with God. They demonstrate our trust in God's sovereignty and His timing. They help us to understand that God's plan for our lives is perfect, and that we should trust in His plan, even when we do not understand it. It is easy to get frustrated and even let our faith wane when things don’t go just how we think they show go. We must learn to be patient and have faith in God’s will and His timing. Those are the things that will help us grow in Him and help us make it through whatever my come our way. Especially in times when God tells us no or at least not now.

See patience and faith are interwoven into God's Word. The key to understanding the relationship between the two is illustrated in James 1:2-4. “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations (life’s trials); Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” God wants to see if we will allow Him to be God or if we will simply trust in our own ability.

In today’s microwave generation, the last thing people want to do is wait on anything or anyone and, unfortunately that anyone includes God. Those of us that are blood bought children of God aren’t exempt from those feelings. We have wants and needs just like the rest of the world. The difference in us and those in the world is that we take our needs to God in prayer. But many of us still expect God to answer every prayer right then. And when He doesn’t, they lose their faith in God.

We can never forget God and His timing are perfect. We have to be patient and have faith in our God. He has never failed us and never will. There is nothing He can’t do. Our times of waiting on God will strengthen us if we will just learn to wait on the Lord. It’s hard to wait and waiting surely tries our faith. But, if we will be patient and wait on the Lord, we will overcome and God will get the Glory.

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
